Yad Vashem has organized the international conference “Holocaust Education: Time, Place and Relevance,” which took place in Jerusalem on June 25–28, 2018. 358 participants from 50 countries were invited to this event.
Six scholars and school teachers from Ukraine participated in the conference. Two of them were included into the program of the event as speakers at the panel discussions. The UAJS member Prof. Iwan Monolatij (Precarpathian National University in Ivano-Frankivsk) talked about the topic of the Holocaust in contemporary Ukrainian fiction. The UAJS secretary Dr. Serhiy Hirik (MA in Jewish Studies program, National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy) spoke on the features of the Holocaust memorialization in today’s Ukraine.
