Recording of the memorial online event on the occasion of the yortsayt of Iryna Serheyeva

The video of the memorial event on the occasion of the first yortsayt of Dr. Iryna Serheyeva (1958–2019), a Ukrainian researcher of the history and culture of East European Jewry and member of the executive committee of the Ukrainian Association for Jewish Studies, is available online. It took place on October 26, 2020.

The historian's colleagues, friends, and disciples from various countries participated in the memorial evening organized by the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Association for Jewish Studies, and the Judaica Ukrainica journal. The chair of the event was a research fellow at the Judaica Department at the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine Tetyana Batanova.

The opening words by the director general of the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine, a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Lyubov Dubrovina (read by Tetyana Batanova) and the UAJS President Vitaly Chernoivanenko were followed by the reminiscences about Dr. Serheyeva shared by the head of the Department of Near and Middle East at the Krymsky Institute of Oriental Studies at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Oleksiy Khamray and the professor at the Department of Monumental Painting at the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Fine Arts Eugeny Kotlyar.

A professor emeritus at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem Shaul Stampfer, a senior research fellow at the Institute for Slavic Studies at the Russian Academy of Sciences and the director of the Sefer Center Victoria Mochalova, the rector of the St. Petersburg Institute of Jewish Studies Dmitry Elyashevich, the director of the Judaica Center at the Documentary Heritage Research Department at the National Library of Lithuania Lara Lempertene (Lithuania), a fellow at the Central Archives for the History of the Jewish People Benyamin Lukin, a research fellow at the Museum of Jewish History in Russia Hillel Kazovsky, and the curator of the Dorot Jewish Collection at the New York Public Library Lyudmila Sholokhova talked about their acquaintance, cooperation and friendship with Iryna Serheyeva.

Moreover, the director of the Center for Jewish Art at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem Vladimir Levin, a research fellow at the Center for Jewish Art at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem Sergey Kravtsov, the chief curator of the Museum of Jewish History in Russia Boris Khaimovich, a professor at the City University of New York Elissa Bemporad, a professor at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America David Fishman, and a PhD student at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and a researcher of the history of the book Nadia Ufimtseva shared memories about their dear colleague with participants of the event.
